Can we play as a team? Can we play as individuals?
Short answer: Yep!
Longer answer: That’s one of the coolest parts of HIP Trivia — it’s completely flexible.
Most of our events are team-based (usually by table), which makes for awesome team-building and high-energy fundraising fun.
But for conferences, seminars, or large groups where people don’t know each other, we can easily switch to individual play.
Want the best of both worlds? We can do that, too! Players can compete individually and as part of a team — whether that team is by table, department, region, or “how long you’ve survived the company holiday party.” We can track both individual and team scores, which always sparks great conversation and a few bragging rights.
What are the technical requirements HIP Trivia?
Once we know your event details, we’ll walk you through exactly what’s needed. But here’s the general idea:
- 
Internet: A hard-wired internet connection for the trivia host is ideal — it keeps the gameplay fast and reliable. (If your venue doesn’t have one, or wants to charge you a small fortune for it, don’t worry — we’ve got workarounds.)
 - 
For players: If people are answering on their own phones, a solid Wi-Fi connection (or their own mobile data) will do just fine.
 - 
If we’re providing tablets: We’ll bring the tablets and create our own wireless network using your hard-wired connection.
 - 
Sound: We typically bring our own microphones and soundboard, then connect to your venue’s audio system. If you’re working with an AV team or production company, we can use their setup instead. If not, we can bring the entire sound system!
 
Bottom line — we’ve never found a venue we couldn’t make work. And we’ll handle the tech talk with your venue directly so you don’t have to.
How do players answer questions?
Players answer using either our HIP Trivia tablets or their own smartphones.
- 
For team/table play, our tablets are the way to go — they’re exclusive to HIP Trivia and add that sleek, game-show-style wow factor.
 - 
For individual play, guests can use their phones. We’ll display a QR code or web link so everyone can jump right in.
 
(Some venues have quirks that limit tablet use — we’ll check all that ahead of time so there are no surprises.)
Can we create custom questions?
Absolutely!
We love customizing the game around your event, company, or audience.
We have a database of over 100,000 questions covering just about every topic imaginable — but we’re more than happy to mix in your own. Want to quiz your staff on that recent training? Add questions about your CEO’s love of golf? Feature fun facts about your organization? Perfect.
At HIP Trivia, we’re all about personalization. Your game should feel yours — and we’ll make sure it does.
What about prizes? How many do we need?
Totally your call! You know your guests best — we just help make it exciting.
Most groups award prizes to the top three teams or players, but if your prize stash is bigger, we can expand the fun.
We’ve also been known to slip in a “last place” award (but shhh… that’s between us).
We can even throw in bonus mini-games between rounds for extra chances to win.
Remember: prizes don’t all have to be big — sometimes the funniest or most creative prizes get the loudest cheers.

How much does a HIP Trivia event cost?
Every event is unique — so we don’t use cookie-cutter pricing.
The cost depends on factors like location, audience size, equipment needs, and whether you already have a sound or projection setup.
Once we know your details, we’ll give you a clear, customized quote.
No pressure, no surprises — just a realistic price that fits your goals and your budget.
